The main
objective of the road show is to increase consciousness and to
encourage involvement, participation and understanding among the
public about the importance of road safety.
The road show
is also a plan or continuous campaign by the government in an
effort to address road safety issues. This is to achieve the
objective of Road Safety Plan 2006 - 2010 which aims to reduce
50% of the accident rate by 2010.
This road show
encompasses 4 corners and visitors would have the chance to
participate besides gaining various information about Road
Safety. The corners are:
- Road
Safety Education (PKJR); where information on the
implementation of road safety education to Standard One
pupils in schools is disseminated.
-
Pedestrian; where information and message on how to be safe
while on the road are given to pedestrian.
-
Motorcycle; where steps of wearing the helmet correctly and
guidelines regarding rider and pillion are explained.
- Cars;
where the public will be exposed with proper driving
characteristics.
Besides that
there is also an area where the public can browse to JKJR"s
website at www.PanduCermat.org.my to get further information and
participate in on-line games suitable for all age levels.
Various games
and quizzes about Road Safety have been prepared throughout the
duration of the road show and visitors to the booth have a
chance various kind of prizes.
The support,
involvement, participation, and understanding of the public in
these Road Safety activities is much needed to encourage changes
in attitude while on the road by practicing responsible driving
and being a disciplined driver who obeys the law.
